About Us

What is Tau Beta Pi (TBP)?

Tau Beta Pi is the only engineering honor society representing the entire engineering profession. It is the nation's second-oldest honor society, founded at Lehigh University in 1885 to mark in a fitting manner those who have conferred honor upon their Alma Mater by distinguished scholarship and exemplary character as students in engineering, or by their attainments as alumni in the field of engineering, and to foster a spirit of liberal culture in engineering colleges.

 

​​​There are now collegiate chapters at 248 US colleges and universities, 44 active alumni chapters in 16 districts across the country, and a total initiated membership of approximately 594,000.

What is California Alpha Gamma (CA-AG)

California Alpha Gamma is the TBP’s collegiate chapter at San Francisco State University, San Francisco CA. The chapter was established on March 10, 2007 and is a part of District 15. Members of the chapter are all bright, talented individuals representing the fields of mechanical, civil, electrical and computer engineering at SF State’s School of Engineering.

What is TBP CA-AG?

The California Alpha Gamma (CA-AG) chapter represents the most talented and exemplary engineering undergraduates at SFSU. Tau Beta Pi CA-AG provides collegiate members opportunities for leadership and professional development in the pursuit of lifelong learning. TBP CA-AG strives to support a community of aspiring engineers who unselfishly give back to the SF Bay Area community and beyond.
